Gold Filled Materials

What Is Gold filled?

What is gold filled jewelry? Gold filled consists of a thick layer of gold (we use 14k and 18k gold )that has been bonded through heat to a core metal (we use jewelers brass). Think of it like an ice cream sandwich- with ice cream in the middle being the brass and the cookie on both sides being the gold. Gold Filled is the best bang for your buck, and the next best thing to solid gold, without the price tag.

Gold Filled Vs. Gold Plated

Gold plated jewelry is only 0.05% gold or lower, gold filled jewelry is 5% gold.  That’s over a hundred times more gold content!

Gold filled jewelry has substantially more gold content than gold plated jewelry. It can handle showers, sweat, and skin contact making it 100 times more resilient than gold plated. Since the gold is mechanically bonded with heat to the base metal rather than plated, it has the same qualities as solid gold. This is also great for people who have sensitive skin because it's hypoallergenic. With its thick, resilient outer layer of gold, it ensures that your skin is only exposed to actual gold. Gold filled is the highest grade metal on the market and closest to solid gold without the hefty price tag.

Gold Filled Care

Gold filled jewelry can last many years with just a little care. To extend the life of your gold filled jewelry...

-We recommend putting your jewelry on last when getting ready. Apply hand sanitizer, perfumes, lotions, creams, hairsprays etc. BEFORE you put on your jewelry.

-Washing hands and showering is fine, clean water is great for giving jewelry a gentle wash, but try to avoid salt water and chlorine (pools & jacuzzis).

-Remove while doing household chores with chemicals and cleaners.

-Clean your gold filled  jewelry periodically with gentle soap (clear dish soap is our fave) and warm water. A soft toothbrush can also be used to remove dirt. Dry completely before storing it in the provided pouch or box.

Sterling Silver Materials

Sterling silver contains 92.5% silver mixed with 7.5% copper (and/or other alloys). Sterling silver is water friendly and your skin’s natural oils will help keep silver jewelry shiny.
